Don’t Fall For This Online SCAM

There’s a fierce internet scam being advertised all over the internet - and I mean ALL over it!  Have you seen this or do you know anyone that has fallen into this trap?

It seems like just about every fitness or health related website I go to has banner ads for a pill containing acai berry extract that claims rapid weight loss.  When you click on one of the ads, it will take you to a website that looks like a real blog with someone’s weight loss story as a result of taking these “magic pills”, but it’s FAKE.

The blog is not real, the comments are not real, and the photos do not belong to the people who set up these fake blogs.  Then once you’re on the site, they’ll tell you their so-called weight loss story and then give you a link to buy this product that will NOT help you lose weight.

Here’s what even worse:

I’ve heard some horror stories from several people who unknowingly fell for this scam (it’s pretty slick, I admit), who later found all kinds of charges on their credit cards—even from companies they’ve never heard of!  Apparently when you buy this product, you are automatically signed up for other products that you will be billed monthly for.  Guess they *forgot* to mention that to their customers.  Not only that, but when these people tried to call and cancel their orders, the phone number instantly disconnected.

And get this:

One of my colleague’s actually found out that one of these scammers stole the ‘before and after photos’ of her client right off of her website.  They put the photos on their fake blog claiming them as their own weight loss story as results of taking the acai berry pills.  Can you believe that?  She actually had to contact her lawyer over this!

So what’s the real deal with these acai berries anyway?

Acai berries contain antioxidants, which help rid your body of harmful toxins and fight the aging process.  But they do not help you lose weight.

Popping these ridiculous pills is a waste of time and money AND it can be dangerous to your health.  You won’t find me putting any of this kind of stuff in my body.  NO WAY.  If I want antioxidants, I’ll buy the natural stuff.  Real foods like blueberries, blackberries, spinach, and broccoli are filled with anti-oxidants.  Acai berries are great too, but they’re not readily available in most grocery stores.

Getting fit is not “magic”

As a long time fitness professional, I can confidently tell you that there are no magic pills for losing weight or getting fit.  Getting fit is a commitment you make to yourself and that you work to achieve.  Are there shortcuts? Can you get fit without spending hours in the gym?  Yes, if you do the right kind of workouts with the right kind of exercises you CAN get in phenomenal shape in less time then “traditional” type workouts.  BUT, you will not get in shape without any effort on your part.

In the midst of this online scam, I want to take this opportunity to tell you that I will ALWAYS be real with you.  I practice what I preach.  Fitness is my work and it’s my passion. My job is to get YOU results.  And if I hadn’t already done that with thousands of people online who are training with my MAX Workouts program, I wouldn’t be satisfied (and I’d probably be out of business!).  So just know that whenever I endorse any product, it’s because I’ve carefully reviewed it, tested it, and approved it.

Whenever I spot a scam, I promise that you will be the first to know about it.  I can’t stand these unethical, money-hungry marketers that are so anxious to take your money without providing any value.  That said, if you find something you think is a scam, let me know about it and I’ll look into it. Together we can take ‘em down!

I did fall into this scam & had nightmare getting my bank account cleared up. I should have contacted the Better Business Bureau. I was so happy to hear that your spreading the word to not fall into this scam like I did.

This scam is really slick indeed.  It looks so real.  I’ve also heard tons of horror stories from people who bought it.  If you can’t reach the company, then call your credit card company and tell the the charge is unauthorized.  That way they’ll issue a chargeback and you’ll get your money back.

I have finally been reimbursed for all the fees & for the 2 debits from 2 different companies that I’d never heard of before. It was quite a mess. I was shocked & very upset & didn’t think something like that could happen but I have learned my lesson!

Thaks for the heads up Shin.

Yeah i actually seen this scam as well…i like to goof off on the net every once in a while and see what ridiculous claims ppl make for a quick dollar…i wish i knew what the site was but it made claims that you don’t have to even excersice because this magic acai berry from brazil will blowtorch fat and spurt muscles like weeds and end up looking like the ppl on the beaches of rio! And i swear the before/after pictures were intentionally blurred…

Oh, another fitness scam which i think has been going on for quite some time is that Big Beyond Belief Training by Leo Costa. My skinny freind almost fell for that one until i told him to lift heavy weights for 40min 3 times a week and eat healthy foods like an animal and he’ll gain muscular weight…

And yeah, as a former naiive skinny-fat man myself i wanna see these SOB’s get the time in jail that they deserve, so if we can get a following i’m down to make some noise.

My goodness Shin, thanks for the warning. I’m not one for quick fixes but sometimes you do think! OK why not, if it will help to get rid of a few kilos before the festive season, it is very tempting.

Thanks again for the warning, i will also foward it to my email friends.

Cheers.

Yeah, I have seen this B.S. on the internet!  According to this particular site, the author was inspired by watching the Ophra’s show about the benefits
of Acai.  The Author of the website had went further
and advised that she uses Colon cleanser daily, along with taking the Acai. The article even stated that she had lost (I think ) 20 or 27 lb. in a matter of several weeks.  And as you can imagine, there is always a sales pitch.
I can see why people fall for this.  The article sound very convincing.  In my experience, there is no easy way.  If you take colon cleanser on a regular basis, yeah, you could loss weight, but, is it healthy and will it keep the weight off?

Truthfully, when I saw this article, I just sent it to my recyclin bin.

I am willing to help get press any charges for this scam as I did fall for it. As I said above, it was a nightmare to get my bank account fixed.

Shin I GREATLY appreciate you being proactive with making us all aware of the situation.

I’m really enjoying my new life change of weight training with my boyfriend. All your tips & emails DO help.

I have been having some problems w/ my back, between shoulders & gone to chiropractor few times now, had muscle spasm. What do you suggest for stretching before lifting?

Thanks for the heads up Shin, I couldn’t agree more with you about this scam and there being no such thing as “magic” pills to help you lose weight because I know someone who is taking the “Alli” pill and the only thing she experienced were side effects, NOT weight loss.

I also would like to point out that it’s also a scam to say certain foods and drinks are natural when they’re really not, good examples include any Snapple green teas (claim to have antioxidants), Vitamin Water, and some foods from the “South Beach Diet”.

So I would like to personally warn everyone to REALLY watch what you eat, even the natural stuff. Thanks again Shin.

Thanks, Shin
You always give the best advice, and I always look forward to whatever comes my way from you.  Anyone who actually wants to lose weight with a way that truly works should just follow your guidelines.  I added Tabata timed sets of many different kinds and body weight circuits to my already serious training and this has boosted my weight loss tremendously. I blasted through 10 pounds easily in 5 weeks.  No one needs special supplements to get the results they want.
