They Hate Me for These Workout Mistakes

These guys aren’t very happy with me. In fact, I’d go as far as to say they hate me. I’ll tell you exactly why in a minute. Plus, I’ll show you the advice that set them (and about 100+ other guys) off on me.

I received 100+ of these little comment notifications on Facebook over the last week. These are the nice comments.

There are many comments I don’t feel comfortable sharing because of the language they used. Anyway, these guys are upset and I can understand why.

But I tell you what…for most of us, their advice is wrong.

They all hate me because I shared one tiny bit of SUPER important workout advice.

Here’s the short version:

If you’ve been working out and you’re frustrated because don’t have much to show it…

If you’re out of shape and you started working out again and it feels like you’re not making progress and you’re ready to get up…

Or if you’re in your 40s, 50s, and beyond and you’re thinking about getting into shape…

There are about 6 workout mistakes you should avoid.

In a minute, I’ll share all of them with you. For now, here’s just a bit of the advice that set these guys off…

  • Long boring cardio is a waste of time if you want to melt age-related fat fast. Plus, long cardio workouts are very hard on your body. If you’re in your 40s and 50s and you’re not a runner or you aren’t used to running…running can do more harm than good.

  • Repeating the same workout over and over will only leave you frustrated. You’re going to hit a plateau eventually. It’s a sure path to frustration.

  • Yoga isn’t a good way to spend your time if you don’t have a lot of time to exercise. Yes, it’s a great way to improve flexibility. Yes, it has its place for some people. But you have to spend more time than you’re willing to workout to build muscle, get strong, and lose fat if you’re doing yoga.

There are other common mistakes that lead to waste of time workouts.

Point is: for most people, what we consider “traditional” exercise like target heart rate or “fat burning” cardio just doesn’t work.

Anyway…

When you see the advice that set these guys (and about 100+ others) off on me, I think you’ll get it.

Because…

My advice isn’t for guys like Adam who hate me.

Of course, he’s going to call it “a load of bollocks.”

I get it.

I just told him the cardio he likes is a waste of time.

But look…

He’s been running consistently for 40+ years. He’s been lifting consistently for years.

But if you haven’t spent the last 40 years running…

…age 52 might not be the best time to start running (especially if you want results fast)!

And yes…

According to James…

“There is 5,000 years evidence that yoga is bloody marvelous.”

But you know what? Lots of people don’t have time to spend 2 hours a day at a yoga studio.

Yoga is great, but it takes time. There are more important ways to exercise.

And while it’s great that you’ve been “doing martial arts at 49 with no plan to stop after 35 years of training…”

…most people haven’t been working out consistently for 35 straight years!

And those who have?

A lot of them have hit a plateau and stopped seeing results.

So, here’s the deal…

If you want to see results and you’re comfortable working out for 8-10 hours per week…

Long, boring workouts might help you out.

But if you’re ready to get fit with shorter, more effective workouts that don’t take away your entire week…
