There are few KEY things you can do, to help slow your biological aging, so you can better maintain your youthful qualities. And there’s one thing in particular that makes a huge impact, when it comes to boosting your youth-enhancing hormone.
But before I show you the one simple step you can take to slow your aging process. I want to talk a little about a well known age-related condition that begins at middle-age and continues for the rest of your life.
This condition is called somatopause
What is Somatopause?
This condition is a gradual and progressive decline in growth hormone secretion that usually begins around middle age and continues for the rest of your life. Which is why somatopause is often referred to as the “middle-age spread.”
Growth hormones are produced naturally within your body throughout your life, but they’re more abundant when you’re young. As you get older and your growth hormone levels begin to decrease, you’ll notice a number of unpleasant symptoms in your body:
Decrease in lean body mass
Weight gain, especially in the belly area, even without changing your diet
Loss of bone density
Lower sex drive
Declining energy levels
Skin wrinkles
Decrease in good cholesterol
Increase in bad cholesterol
As you may have guessed, the youth-enhancing hormone I mentioned earlier is your growth hormone. And it’s the one crucial hormone that needs to be fixed, if you want to slow your aging process and cure the “middle-age spread”.
Solutions for Somatopause
Doctors have found two main solutions for somatopause:
Growth hormone injections to replace the loss of growth hormones within your body. Getting growth hormone injection is serious stuff, not to mention expensive, each injection can cost as much as $1000 per month. Although it’s considered medically safe, it must be administered and carefully monitored by a qualified physician. And keep in mind, like any other drugs, there are countless possible serious side effects that can occur with growth hormone injections. And lastly, many people who suffer from somatopause don’t have growth hormone levels that are low enough to require injections.
The most effective and natural option is exercise. Yep, it may be hard to believe but doing the RIGHT exercise has shown to be very effective at triggering growth hormone secretion.
How to Effectively Combat Somatopause Through Exercise
The key to triggering your growth hormone through exercise is intensity and not volume or time. Quality over quantity is the motto, when it comes to beating the “middle-age spread”.
Doing short bursts of intense activity followed by periods of rest is the main workout protocol. The types of exercise can vary from doing sprints outside, to riding an indoor spinning bike to performing full body exercises, like the ones I recommend in my MAX Workouts program.
If you’ve never done short bursts of intense exercise, you definitely want to start out easy. Start with one or two short bursts of exercise done at 60% effort level, and then slowly begin to increase the length and frequency of these exercise bouts. Performing any kind of exercise with close to maximum exertion takes a big toll on your body, so it’s important to work your way up slowly and progressively.
Here’s a sample workout:
Pick one exercise. Running, biking or a full body exercise. Then warm up for 3 - 5 minute doing the same exercise. Work your way up to doing a couple of bouts at about 8/10 effort level for 10 - 20 seconds. You should be slightly sweating before you begin.
Perform the exercise at 90 to 95% effort level for 30 seconds, followed by 1 - 2 minute rest. How long you rest is up to you. Your goal is to feel like you’ve recovered enough between each round of exercise, so that you can give it your best effort every round. Listen to your body and if you feel like you need more than 2 minutes rest, then take it.
Repeat this 2 - 3 times if you’re just beginning. And work your way up to doing it 10 times. Remember, even at 10 times, that’s only 5 minutes of actual work! Again, it’s quality over quantity, when it comes to triggering your growth hormone.
My personal fitness motto has always been, “fitness is intensity dependent and not time dependent”. Well, the same can be said for slowing down your biological clock. Exercising the right way, 2 - 3 times a week can significantly slow your aging process down and reap the benefits of a more youthful body and health.
P.S. If you liked the sample workout, you’re going to love my MAX Workouts program and the results that it’ll give you. The entire program is based in triggering your growth hormone through short intense exercises. If you want to slow your aging process and cure the “middle-age spread” naturally, this is the solution for you.
